About Me

Hello and welcome to my little blog. I am so happy you are here and I thank you for taking time to stop by.

I would like to give some background on how I came up with the blog name, Thrifty Southern Pilgrim. I was am a New Englander born and raised, until I moved to North Florida at age 28. I never thought I would live in the South (or even like it) for more than a few years. However, I have surprised myself and have really come to love my adoptive home (and have stayed MUCH longer that originally intended - sorry Mom).....and "MUCH" is used liberally as I don't like to discuss ages *wink *wink

I think New Englanders in general are thrifty and resourceful and I personally do not like to spend money unless necessary. When I do, it is usually a big purchase that has been researched. I like to save money and even more I like to get a good deal - especially if that means I have to fix, or paint, or rework something old and yucky into something beautiful! It also gives me such satisfaction to create and make things with my own 2 hands. It always has. I grew up watching my Dad fixing up our lovely old home and learned from him how to use power tools and how to DIY before DIY was even a term!

How do I spend my time, other than what you see on my blog?

I work a couple days a week. I exercise, sometimes a lot. It depends on if I am training for anything. I run short races and compete in Triathlons. I am active in my church and involved in a very active ministry. I like to spend time helping in my boy's classrooms and getting to know their friends. I love to curl up with a good magazine or even better a good book. Give me a James Patterson book and you can't talk to me for 2 days. That is exactly how long it takes me to finish one of his books! I love to cook and make most everything from scratch. I love to bake but try really hard not too because I have a wicked sweet tooth. I try really hard to be a great Mom, wife, daughter, sister, sister in law, friend and auntie. It does not always happen, but I try.

I would love to hear any comments or questions you may have. You can always leave a comment on a specific post, or you can can email me at thriftysouthernpilgrim@gmail.com.
